Machine to Machine (M2M) refers to technologies that enable wireless and wired systems to connect with other devices having similar capabilities. M2M employs a device (such as a sensor or meter) to capture an event (such as temperature, inventory level, etc.), which is then sent to an application (software program) via a network (wireless, wired, or hybrid) (for example, items need to be restocked). Previously, such communication was performed by having a remote network of equipment relay data to a central hub for examination, after which it was diverted into a system like a personal computer.

Modern M2M communication, on the other hand, has evolved from a one-to-one link to a networked system that delivers data to personal appliances. The global spread of IP networks has made M2M communication easier, reducing the amount of power and time required to convey information between machines. In terms of the products being offered, these networks also open up a slew of new business options and linkages between customers and producers.

GFST has made a commitment to provide M2M technology to Nepal. This innovative technology approach is a contemporary response to the challenge of making machines more intelligent by expediting the communication process between them. The M2M hardware's purpose is to connect the machine's intelligence to the communication network.

Benefits:

  • Remove the need for manual data collection from faraway machines.
  • Allows remote machines to connect with a central administration system in real-time, automating the procedure.
  • Reduces costs, boosts revenues, and improves customer service by utilizing real-time data.

Some of the applications where M2M can be implemented are:

  • Electric Power Distribution
  • Gas/Petrol Distribution
  • Industrial Process Control
  • Security /Emergency
  • Logistic /Fleet Management (GPS-positioning)
  • Home Automation (Heating, security)
  • Telemedicine/Teleport
  • Heavy Equipment/Machines
